The Peace Action Fund of New York State William Sloane Coffin, Jr. Peacemaker Award Gala & Auction

The Peace Action Gala on Friday, October 28th will feature a festive cocktail reception with Congresswoman Barbara Lee, an auction of unique items and experiences and an awards ceremony to present the Reverend William Sloane Coffin Peacemaker Award to Congresswoman Barbara Lee. The Peacemaker Award is given annually to a peace and social justice activist who has made a difference and Barbara Lee is surely that person. Her courageous leadership in opposing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan make her an ideal recipient of this award.

Reverend William Sloane Coffin was a clergyman and long-time peace activist. As Chaplain of Yale University, he organized busloads of freedom fighters to challenge segregation and later led ?A Call to Resistance? against the Vietnam War. He became Senior Minister at Riverside Church and, as an eloquent spokesperson for peace and disarmament, he left a legacy that we honor annually.
